There’s no better way to celebrate the cooler weather than with cozy comfort food & warming Fall Flavors!

At Miss Shirley’s, our Culinary Team loves to incorporate fresh seasonal produce, and there are a number of fruits & vegetables that flourish in the Fall, including Sweet Potatoes, Squash, Brussels Sprouts, Pears, Cranberries, Figs, and so much more!

But, with all of the hearty produce, fresh herbs & spices to choose from, what are some of our Chefs looking forward to cooking up in their home kitchens this season? Find out below!

 

"I always look forward to Oyster Season -  I love fresh Oysters raw on the half shell! Red & Yellow Beets are also in season during the Fall, and they’re great when roasted & garnished with Goat Cheese. Roasted Brussel Sprouts with some diced Bacon & Apple Cider Vinegar is another one of my favorites. And when the weather gets chilly, I love to make hearty stews like Beef Bourguignon, and my Grilled Chicken & Black Bean Chili."

 

"Fall produce is flavorful and delicious! Some of my favorites are Pears, Apples, Figs, Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli & Cauliflower. It’s great to be able to turn on the oven and roast up some fresh veggies with hearty dishes like Pot Roasts & Roasted Chicken, to warm everyone up in the cooler months."

 

"When cooking during the cooler months, I like to incorporate a lot of seasonal vegetables with Sweet and Spicy flavors for some delicious balance. I love to roast my veggies & dress them with Pure Maple Syrup, Cinnamon & Cayenne, or a Spiced Paprika."

 

"Apples are crisp & delicious during the Fall, and my family loves baking fresh homemade Apple Pie served with refreshing Vanilla Ice Cream!"

 

"During the fall months, I like to incorporate a lot of colorful produce like Apricots and Pomegranate, which both pair well with an abundance of meats and starches. I love creating simple, versatile, colorful, and hearty dishes with all the produce autumn has to offer. At home, one of my favorite dishes to make is Creamy Mascarpone & Pecorino Polenta, topped with Sage Roasted Mushrooms & Brown Butter Wilted Kale, sprinkled with Pomegranate Seeds."

 

"For dinners, I like to make classic Pork Chops & Pot Roasts with Rosemary, Thyme & Garlic. Hearty crockpot meals are a go-to in our house, when the Fall sets in. And for desserts, Cinnamon, Allspice & Nutmeg are some of my favorites when it gets cooler out. We make the best Pumpkin Roll in my house. We take a Sponge Cake flavored with Pumpkin & Icing & roll it all up – it’s a family tradition!"
